Local Child Takes a PDO From School
by Lance Operhall, Contributing Writer

HOUSTON, TX — Robin Young, a child of 11 years old, decided early Tuesday morning to take a personal day off (PDO) from school. Young came up with this decision at the very last second while watching cartoons and eating his coca-puffs.

“I was sitting on the couch watching Scooby-doo and my mother charged right up to me and told me to get dressed for school. At first, I thought to myself that I better do what she said but then I realized that I had some errands that I had to do today so I told her that I was going take a PDO.”

His mother, Kristy, was not too pleased with this. Robin, then, tried to figure out a better way to tell his mother why he needed a day off.

“I was thinking of a good way to tell my mom about my day off because she wasn't buying at first. It's not that I don't want to go to school. Far from it. But I do have some personal matters to contend with.”

On the way to school, Young told his mother all the errands that he had to do for that day and finally after ten minutes of excuses, his mother finallyagreed that his son really needed a PDO.

“I had no idea that my son had that many errands to do today. At first, he told that he wanted to catch up on his favorite soap and work on his soccer game but I wasn't buying that. But towards the end, his last excuse finally opened me up for his day off.”

Robin was finally taken home and seconds later, he called up the school's secretary and told her the same reason he told his mother.

“I can't come to school today because school is putting a strand on my marriage and I need to spend some time with my wife.”

The secretary agreed and Young was free for the rest of the day.
